The hours can vary based on schedule need/availability. Floor Assistants will not work for no more than 4 hours at any one time. The building hours change term-by-term, but here are the general building hours: MON - FRI: 6am - 11pm SAT & SUN: 9am - 10pm Employment in this position is contingent upon consent to and successful completion of a pre-employment background check, which may include a criminal background check, reference checks, verification of work history, and verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, with results acceptable to Dartmouth College. A criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment. Position Purpose

The Floor Assistant for Zimmerman will enforce all Zimmerman Fitness Center policies, clean equipment, provide assistance with general maintenance in the facility.

Skills & Knowledge

• Working knowledge of fitness facilities.
• Able to lift up to 40lbs.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.

Minimum Experience

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma.
• Must hold a current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

• Carry basic knowledge of fitness, fitness equipment, proper workout technique, etc..
• Provide a safe environment for all gym members and staff.
• Demonstrate how to correctly adjust and use machines and make simple repairs.
• Provide information on how to correctly use fitness equipment.
• Provide friendly customer services to gym members.
• Clean and maintain the Zimmerman Fitness Center.
• Ensure paper towel dispensers and cleaning supplies are properly stocked.
• Enforce all Zimmerman Fitness Center policies, procedures, code of conducts, and rules and regulations, including but not limited to, actively walk the fitness floor to look for any problems (i.e. backpacks in the ZFC, weights being dropped, containers of food, chalk, ensuring that patrons wear shoes, etc.). If the Floor Assistant encounters any of these infractions, they would be expected to take the opportunity to educate members on proper policies.
• Assist members with fitness questions.
