Position Purpose

Manages the execution of the successful launch and on-going operation of The Dartmouth Institute’s new undergraduate Summer Institute in Health Care Leadership and Fellowship in Health Care Leadership. This position represents an exciting opportunity to help create new approaches to health care education, so that undergraduate students will be motivated to explore the challenges in health care and respond to the new demands of a potential career in health care. Ensures successful delivery of on-campus and online program and facilitates effective and meaningful mentoring relationships between students and faculty mentors. Plans and leads communications about the program to recruit students and build cross-campus partnerships.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong project management skills including organization, ability to set priorities, and manage time effectively with frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that allow for building relationships and appropriately representing the program.
  • Highly proficient with technology (MS Office, Canvas, CourseSites, etc)
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate and interact with all levels of employees, students, management and leadership.
  • Resourceful in problem solving, reliable, and flexible.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Able to balance competing demands with the ability to quickly reprioritize as necessary.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Minimum Experience
  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage logistical and operational details of multiple tasks or projects.
  • Experience with student mentorship, career development, and/or education program delivery preferred.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Delivery of on-campus and online program

  • Coordinates and executes delivery of the on-campus and online programming with instructors, technology team, and program director.
  • Organizes and provides administrative and technical support for online courses, such as managing Canvas and CourseSites content and troubleshooting technical issues with students and instructors.
  • In partnership with director and instructors, supports content development for on-campus courses.
  • Independently manages logistics for on-campus program, including locating and reserving classroom and lodging, arranging for food service, coordinating schedules, and communicating with students and faculty.
  • Provides onsite support during on-campus program to ensure successful execution.

Recruitment and application review

  • Serves as first point-of-contact responding to applicant inquiries, providing program information to prospective and admitted students and other interested parties.
  • In conjunction with TDI recruitment team and program director, plans and leads execution of activities for prospective and admitted student engagement with goal of recruiting appropriate yield of students for the program.
  • Leads recruitment outreach to prospective and admitted students.
  • Coordinates student application review process, participating in review of application and leading the process to get input from the review panel.
  • With consultation from TDI communications team, develops plan to promote the program and executes the plan by developing content for website, social media, and other venues.

Facilitates mentorship program

  • Establishes and maintains rapport with faculty mentors and students to facilitate an effective and meaningful mentoring relationships.
  • Serves as an informal advisor and liaison for students, providing a wide range of assistance.
  • Establishes an effective relationship with the students.
  • Independently takes action or refers students to appropriate sources to meet their individual needs.
  • Facilitates resolution of problems and notifies program directors and mentors as appropriate.

Cross-campus program coordination

  • Builds effective relationships with a wide variety of cross-campus partners to solicit best practices in delivery of undergraduate curriculum and share program strategies and approaches.
  • Effectively communicates in writing and verbally to share information and advance project work.
  • Represents the program across campus and to broader audiences.
  • Anticipates and identifies potential problem areas, recommends alternative approaches, and takes action to overcome challenges, working closely with the program director.
  • Tracks project timelines and follows-up with others to ensure timely completion of project work.
  • Prepares summaries and reports of activities.
