This position will work primarily with goalkeepers. Prior experience coaching collegiate level goalkeepers, playing experience as a goalkeeper, and goalkeeping qualification’s through the USSF or NSCAA would be preferred.

Position Purpose

To assist the head coach in planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the Women’s Soccer program within NCAA, Ivy League, and institutional standards.

Skills & Knowledge

Strong knowledge of soccer skills and strategies in one or more areas (e.g., offense, defense, etc.).
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to recruit effectively with no athletic grants and highly selective admissions standards.

Minimum Experience

Four years experience playing and/or coaching soccer at the high school or collegiate level.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Coaching/Mentoring:
Contributes to planning and implementing the training, conditioning and coaching programs for the Women’s Soccer team.
Assists head coach in conducting team practices, training, conditioning, and competitions.
Prepares scouting reports and game plans for opponents.
Teaches soccer skills to student-athletes.
Demonstrates a sincere interest in the academic, personal, and physical welfare of each student-athlete; counsel team members and consult with the head coach and appropriate College staff as necessary for the resolution of issues.

Recruiting:
Assists head coach in developing and implementing an overall recruiting plan, including, but not limited to:
identifying qualified students and talented athletes;
communicating with prospects by phone, mail, e-mail;
traveling to evaluate prospects, meet parents and high school coaches:
organizing and participating in visits to campus by prospects, and
maintaining appropriate recruiting records as required by the NCAA.
Maintains knowledge of the College’s programs and opportunities to effectively inform prospects.

Administration:
Knows and complies with the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Ivy League, and work to stay abreast of rule changes, applications and interpretations; actively seek to ensure that athletes and athletics representatives are informed of and comply with NCAA and Ivy League rules.
Assists the head coach in planning and administering the budget for the Women’s Soccer program which includes assessing needs for equipment, team travel, recruiting, etc.
Plans and reconciles recruiting travel expenses.
Assists head coach in planning and developing competitive schedule.
Assists head coach in coordinating team travel.
Assists the head coach in keeping alumni, parents and supporters informed of the program’s status through newsletters, brochures, talks, etc.
