Position Purpose

This position is for three, 24/7 one week sessions – July 22 – July 28; July 29 – August 4; and, August 5 – 11, 2018. Mentors are expected to be available for all three sessions and the day before the first session begins. Dormitory accommodations, a meal card, and parking are provided.

This position will lead/supervise the Health Careers Mentors and prepare curriculum and materials for the Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth (HCID) program. This position involves working with high school participants educating them about health career opportunities, college preparation, and important topics in the health care field, mentoring/supervising participants providing logistical and organizational support and organizing and overseeing recreational activities.

Minimum Experience
  • One year of experience in a mentoring, teaching, or leadership role, and/or past experience with HCID
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, with preference given to a degree in a health profession
  • Master’s degree preferred

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities
  • Develops and presents sessions of curriculum
  • Mentors and supervises HCID mentors and participants
  • Provides curriculum development, logistical and organizational support
  • Works with participants to educate and inform in the various areas of: career counseling, college preparation, and pre-health professions
  • Organizes recreational activities
  • Assists HCID staff in identifying future tracking of participants
