Position Purpose

Envisions, plans, and leads the strategies, initiatives, programs, and activities of the Center for Business, Government & Society forging pathways of learning and application. Serves as an integral leader and contributor in achieving Tuck’s vision as a preeminent business school that creates, teaches, and applies life-changing knowledge in a collaborative community.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Able to articulate the value of the center and its programs to various audiences.
  • Extensive knowledge of center’s area of expertise.
  • Able to successfully engage with multiple constituencies representing diverse interests and perspectives, including especially industry executives, alumni, and faculty.
  • Able to engage with and educate students, demonstrating appropriate empathy and inspiration.
  • Able to cultivate and sustain high touch service culture.
  • Able to develop and implement highly effective strategic and tactical plans based on rigorous data analysis.
  • Commitment to building an inclusive community that values the diversity of backgrounds, talents, experiences, and perspectives of all its members.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally.
Minimum Experience
  • Leadership or consulting experience with organizations, institutions, or agencies related to the center’s strategy and programs.
  • Broad exposure to and engagement with executives, senior officials, functional leaders, and boards of social impact organizations and government agencies.
  • Experience developing and managing education programs.
  • Demonstrated experience and excellence as a manager/supervisor, contributor, and role model.
Minimum Education

Master’s degree, preferably in business or public policy, or the equivalent in education and experience.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities
  • Forges pathways for primarily MBA students to learn and apply their interests and aspirations related to the intersections of business, government, and society in collaboration with the Faculty Director. Develops and delivers co-curricular learning opportunities and experiences that are distinctly personal, connected, and transformative.
  • Pursues and maintains knowledge of center-related market trends and innovations, strengthens beneficial external relationships and networks (e.g., alumni, industry executives and organizations, scholars, and peer schools), and shares and applies relevant domain expertise in planning and delivering programs, events, and other center activities.
  • Develops and implements marketing and communications plans, in consultation with the Communications Office, that engage relevant audiences and position Tuck as a visible and compelling leader in issues associated with business, government, and society.
  • Partners with Tuck Advancement in engaging with and activating alumni, organizations, and other key partners to support and contribute to achieving the center’s priorities.
  • Advises admissions colleagues in attracting and yielding high-potential applicants with interests and aspirations related to the center’s pathways of learning and application; may speak to a select group of admitted applicants directly or through student center fellows.
  • Participates with other center leaders in orientation planning, ensuring new students understand the role of centers and how to access the particular pathways centers provide.
  • Advises the Career Development Office in its coaching of students pursuing internships and jobs related to the center’s focus area; may personally coach a small number of students with distinct career interests.
  • Builds and maintains a high touch service culture with emphasis on responsiveness to and support for students, alumni, and other pertinent constituencies.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises center team members in consultation with Tuck Talent Management Office.
  • Prepares, manages, and updates the center’s plans, budgets, and processes with team input. Articulates and is accountable for center policies, practices, and performance standards.
  • Represents the center on institutional committees, working groups, and task forces. Updates team on progress of these activities.
