Position Purpose

Prepares, documents, and processes employee benefit payroll activity, performing all necessary actions to ensure benefit deductions, retirement contributions and disability pay are accurate for each payroll processed.

Minimum Experience
  • Three or more years of experience as HRIS, Benefits or Payroll Administrator
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Minimum Education

Associate’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Benefits Payroll Administration

  • Collaborates closely with Payroll personnel to make any necessary changes or adjustments to meet payroll deadlines.

Retirement

  • Loads reports from the benefits system to the payroll system, ensuring consistency between systems and plan elections.
  • Calculates catch up contributions retro to date of hire for employees and enters into the payroll system.
  • Reviews any discrepancies while payroll is processing to ensure correct contributions process for all employees.

Health & Welfare

  • Runs weekly reports to review the changes in H&W benefits that occurred the week prior. Calculate any arrears owed to the college/the employee and enter into the payroll system for processing.
  • Contacts employees regarding any benefit adjustment that will impact net pay.
  • Tracks notes by employee for any benefit adjustments made.
  • Reviews statement of earnings while payroll is processing to ensure accuracy of entries for all employees with adjustments for each payroll processed.
  • Reviews payroll reports while the payroll is processing to ensure all employee benefits will process correctly for the pay period.

Disability

  • Runs reports prior to payroll processing of employees currently out on disability, calculates monthly/biweekly payments for each and enters into the payroll system.
  • Reviews statement of earnings while payroll is processing to ensure accuracy of pay for all employees out on disability.
  • Processes quick pays for employees approved for disability pay outside of the normal process runs.

General Office Functions

  • Provides assistance to Benefits staff during busy times and on various projects as needed.
  • Partners with other Benefits team members to provide customer support as needed.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
