Position Purpose

Identifies, cultivates, secures, and stewards annual gifts from individuals that enable Tuck to advance its mission, vision, and strategy. Contributes to an outstanding development team that is integral to strengthening and sustaining Tuck’s distinct learning community that creates, teaches, and applies life-changing knowledge.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Able to persuasively articulate Tuck’s philanthropic priorities to alumni class officers, volunteers, and annual giving prospects.
  • Able to pursue and close annual gifts through sound judgment, effective and efficient planning, self-initiative, and collaborating with others.
  • Able to engage effectively with multiple constituencies representing diverse interests and perspectives.
  • Proficient in using Advance, Raiser’s Edge, or similar system.
  • Commitment to building an inclusive community that values the diversity of backgrounds, talents, experiences, and perspectives of all its members.
  • Able to travel once or twice monthly.
Minimum Experience
  • Experience cultivating, soliciting, and closing annual gifts at a top-ranked academic institution or the equivalent in fund-raising, marketing, and/or sales experience at a preeminent organization.
  • Experience as a key contributor on a high performing team with a track record of outstanding results.
Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in education and experience.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities
  • Contributes research, recommendations, and ideas to development team strategies, initiatives, and projects, including the setting and reporting of annual giving goals and priorities.
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of institutional initiatives, education programs, and capital projects of potential interest to prospective donors.
  • Develops and implements cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plan for designated prospect portfolio, generally organized by alumni classes, according to annual giving goals and priorities.
  • Researches and analyzes prospect portfolio to propose and determine engagement priorities; ensures the accuracy of prospect information in Tuck systems. Identifies new alumni class volunteers and prospects.
  • Articulates and implements strategies for communicating with class officers, volunteers, and donors; drafts and customizes proposals, correspondences, and other pertinent printed and online materials. Oversees the preparation and production of alumni class officer, volunteer, and prospect engagement materials.
  • Engages with prospects, directly or in coordination with alumni class officers and volunteers, and closes gifts according to determined priorities through phone calls, emails, social media, and visits, appropriately informing and/or partnering with senior leaders, colleagues, other key alumni, and others. Promptly records engagement activities in Tuck systems.
  • Participates in stewardship activities, providing input into approach, timing, and messaging.
  • Identifies other engagement opportunities for prospects and donors (e.g., centers and initiatives, career development/recruiting, non-degree programs, etc.); connects them with the appropriate colleagues.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to designated constituent groups.
  • Engages in and completes designated special projects.
  • Studies emerging trends in higher education philanthropy through external affiliations and research; explores, suggests, and implements innovations.
  • Represents team on institutional committees, working groups, and task forces. Updates team on progress of these activities.
