Position Purpose

Provides primary administrative support to the Faculty Council at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient with basic computer software packages, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities.
  • Experience with generating surveys or questionnaires desired.
  • Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
Minimum Experience
  • Two plus years of office experience.
Minimum Education
  • Associate’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience.

Faculty Council Support

  • Maintains all files and documents for the Faculty Council.
  • Sets up, maintains, and updates membership lists, including monitoring attendance and alerting the Chair to e-attendance records.
  • Prepares and disperses mailings to the Faculty Council and, as needed, to the faculty at large, including summaries of regular meetings and special meetings.
  • Arranges rooms for meetings and sets up the audio/visual support (including conference calls and WebEx) for both regular Faculty Council meetings and the Steering Committee, alternating biweekly.
  • Attends and facilitates operations of each meeting of the Faculty Council.
  • Proofs and posts questionnaires, surveys, etc. for members of the Faculty Council and faculty at large.
  • Takes draft minutes of the meetings of the Faculty Council.
  • Prepares and distributes materials for new members of the Faculty Council.
  • Distributes agenda and materials for meetings.
  • Staffs special sub-committees of the Faculty Council as needed and indicated by the Chair.
  • Organizes the attendance of the members of the Steering Committee.
  • As needed, searches for materials needed by the Faculty Council.
  • Keeps the website for the Faculty Council up to date and assists members in accessing it as needed.
  • Liaison with support personnel in various administrative offices at Geisel, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, and Dartmouth College.
  • Carries out other duties for the Faculty Council as requested by the Chair.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
