The schedule is Monday-Friday. There are three shifts available: * 1: 7:30am-4:00pm (plus overtime as needed) * 2: 6:00am – 2:30pm (plus overtime as needed) * 3: 2:00pm – 10:30pm (plus overtime as needed) * Please note in your application which shifts you are available for. Position Purpose

To provide temporary help to the Labor Crew by performing general maintenance, labor, and other assigned work.

Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of and the ability to operate various vehicles, including one-ton plow trucks with sanders, tractors, loaders and telehandlers.
• Knowledge of and the ability to operate small and large equipment and hand tools, including but not limited to jackhammers, shovels, rakes, water pumps and electric snakes.
• Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.

Minimum Experience

• Must be able to pass a DoT physical.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activity indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.

Minimum Education

• High school graduate or the equivalent.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be qualified under terms of the Dartmouth College Driver’s Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Under general supervision from the Grounds Services Supervisor, responsibilities will cover a wide range of duties related to:

  • Set up for major events
  • Demolition services
  • Intra-college moving services
  • External drainage maintenance
  • Snow removal
  • Repair and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, parking lots and signs
  • Large-object rubbish and debris removal and disposal
  • Collecting and sorting bulk and contained rubbish, compost, universal waste and recycled materials from curb side and designated sites
  • Groundsworker responsibilities

This individual is directly supervised in a variety of unskilled tasks related to these duties including,

  • Digging ditches
  • Packing and loading materials
  • Washing equipment

This position may use a variety of equipment and tools and may be required to lift up to 75 pounds.
