Position Purpose

Plans and manages Office of Information Technology (OIT) business operations, including procurement, budgeting, inventories, communications, and user engagement. Ensures IT operations facilitate learning and work experiences that are distinctly personal, connected, and transformative. Contributes to an IT team that is integral to achieving Tuck’s vision as a preeminent business school that creates, teaches, and applies life-changing knowledge in a collaborative community.

  • Able to clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts and information to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

  • Able to cultivate and sustain high touch service culture.
  • Solid knowledge of IT equipment, software and services, preferably in an academic setting.

Minimum Experience
  • Experience developing and managing IT business operations at a preeminent organization with diverse users of IT systems, preferably at a college or university, or other similarly complex organization.
  • Experience building and sustaining a high touch user services culture.
  • Experience negotiating, closing, and managing vendor contracts and licensing agreements.
  • Experience using a variety of professional office technologies and desktop productivity tools, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a team leader, contributor, and role model.
Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to managing organizational IT operations, or the equivalent in education and experience.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities
  • Procures OIT hardware, software, and services, coordinating with other IT teams, Dartmouth Procurement, the Office of the General Counsel, and other offices to create, review, update, and terminate purchasing, service, warranty, and maintenance plans and agreements. Engages with constituents and vendors to ensure agreement terms are fulfilled. Continuously updates faculty and staff on the status of their orders to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Manages allocation, tracking, return, transfer, and disposal of faculty and staff hardware according to distribution and set-up guidelines and priorities; reviews, approves, and/or escalates user hardware requests. Informs users of available hardware, software, and accessories; deploys and manages self-service ordering system.
  • Secures, tracks, and updates software licenses and faculty mobile phone service agreements.
  • Maintains detailed records for IT equipment, software, and service agreements acquisitions.
  • Coordinates response to reports of lost, stolen, or compromised equipment or data, involving Dartmouth Risk and Internal Controls Services, Safety and Security, and other appropriate officials and offices.
  • Supports Director in preparing and managing capital and operating budgets according to OIT strategic plans and initiatives; tracks, and reports expenditures.
  • Proposes ideas for enhancing user experience, primarily as it relates to the procurement and distribution of hardware; supports Director and OIT managers in articulating and achieving user experience standards.
  • Assists Director and other OIT managers with hiring, training, and supervising OIT colleagues in consultation with Tuck Talent Management Office. Directly supervises OIT administrative support position.
  • Updates and maintains OIT policies, guidelines, and procedures.
