Position Purpose

The research assistant will abstract data from pediatric electronic medical records to assist in epidemiological research as part of the New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent English language and communication skills (written and oral) required.
  • Initiative, discretion, judgment, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills and ability to remain organized with frequent interruptions.
  • Meticulous attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software packages such as Microsoft Office and Endnote.
  • General understanding of medical terminology essential.
Minimum Experience
  • 1-2 years of relevant medical or record review experience

  • Associate’s Degree

Research

  • Maintains database to track participant consent status.
  • Contacts medical clinics to obtain medical records for consented participants.
  • Enters information from medical records into a secure study database.
  • Adheres to strict requirements of patient confidentiality.
  • Works with study team to resolve any research difficulties.
  • Communicates status of project to study team regularly.
