Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Dartmouth CO-OP Executive Director, the Community Research Coordinator supports the conduct of multiple community-engaged research projects, and fosters the development and success of new community-engaged initiatives. The coordinator provides research and administrative support to the Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) Research Director, Executive Director and the Dartmouth CO-OP Governing Board.
This position is part-time (0.60) and grant-funded.

  • Ability to maintain meticulous study records, laboratory data and other information related to research protocols
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and competing priorities.
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of two years as research coordinator, preferably in a patient-oriented or community-oriented setting
  • Experience in research related data collection in a medical setting, according to study conventions and within protocol timelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in health sciences

Research Support

  • Provides direct on-site and telephone support for clinical practices conducting PBRN research and/or Quality Improvement (QI) projects. Develops working relationships with on-site PBRN project teams and clinical staff at multiple clinical sites, including Dartmouth-Hitchcock clinics, private community clinics, and/or non-clinic survey locations. Negotiates with on-site project teams, develops rapport with critical staff, problem solves, and establishes systems fitting the culture of the individual site.
  • Develops successful data reporting with PBRN project teams in collaboration with Dartmouth SYNERGY. Develops mechanisms to collect data appropriate to the standards and goals of sponsored research studies that are also compatible with office systems in multiple clinical sites, utilizing focus groups, face-to-face or telephone patient interviews, patient questionnaires, medical record reviews, or extracting information from computerized medical information systems. Develops project specific effective QI reporting and performance tools and reports. Provides data reports to PBRN project teams for meeting/exceeding quality goals.
  • Assists the CO-OP executive director with analyzing community-engaged research data for Dartmouth SYNERGY’s annual NIH report, and at other times as requested.
  • Performs data collection and data reporting activities such as developing databases, scheduling and conducting subject interviews, downloading data from on-line surveys, extracting medical and demographic data from medical records, administering patient questionnaires, extracting and reporting quality metrics from a variety of proprietary databases and communication of results in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Conducts medical and scientific reference bibliographic searches, including abstracting data from published sources, obtaining articles from libraries, summarizing articles and maintaining a bibliographic database to assist in writing, reviewing and editing grant initiatives, reports and scientific articles.
  • Assists the PBRN Network Coordinator with writing and providing required protocols and consent forms to Institutional Review Board for initial applications, expedited reviews and continuing reviews.
  • Develops PowerPoint or similar presentation tools appropriate to report research results to state and/or national audiences.
    Assists with organizing and carrying out the Dartmouth CO-OP Annual Meeting, assisting with the CME application. Responsible for meeting registration, collection of fees, meeting evaluation summary.
  • Other PBRN research support activities as necessary. Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation for which mileage traveled will be reimbursed in accordance with Dartmouth policies.
