Position Purpose

Acts as the principal liaison between the work team at Dartmouth and Project Manager at Blackbaud during the implementation of Luminate Online. As a successful implementer of software in complex environments, s/he will effectively align the needs of the Friends of NCCC (Prouty) and the Friends of CHaD (HERO) with the Luminate Online software package. Coordinates other aspects of implementation (Online giving pages, email/social media tools and connectivity to Raisers Edge).

Minimum Experience
  • Two to four years implementing database or online systems. Project management experience preferred.
  • Experience with Raisers Edge, Sphere/Kintera, O-Matic and Luminate Online preferred.
  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising events such as the Prouty or CHaD HERO required.
  • Experience participating in fundraising peer-to-peer event organization preferred.
Minimum Education
  • BA or equivalent preferred or like software implementation experience.

Software Implementation

  • Works with the Project Manager at Blackbaud to monitor established work plan. Identifies deviations, problems, early successes and makes necessary adjustments. Communicates same to all teams.
  • Manages against contract. Brings to the attention of the Assoc. VP and others, any challenges or opportunities identified.
  • Understands the Luminate Software features and capabilities at a deep level. Relates same to Dartmouth team, recommends settings that align the software with the business needs of Dartmouth.
  • Coordinates the creation of content, media for multiple friends groups and events. Ensures content is approved and ready for implementation in Luminate. Shares same with Blackbaud as well as implements some on own. Carefully tracks content ensuring it is implemented appropriately.
  • Under the direction of the Assoc. VP, is responsible for implementation of all Friends-Asking-Friends activities for both CHaD and NCCC. Works with Advancement team members implementing stand-alone giving pages, email/social media features and bridging software between Luminate and Raisers Edge;
  • Understands internal stakeholder needs – reporting, event management, day-of-event activities, and post-event analysis- and ensures that system is designed appropriately and accurate reporting is in place.

Alignment of business practices and Luminate software

  • Understands at an in-depth level – either through hands-on experience or comprehensive interviews – the workings of multiple friends-asking-friends events. From event design through after-event cleanup, understands the flow of the event identifying those areas that require direct and indirect support from Luminate.
  • Understands the end-user’s (participants, donors, volunteers, employed event workers) perspective of the software experience. Identifies opportunities to leverage Luminate software to make that experience simple, positive and productive. Brings that end-user knowledge to all aspects of implementation project.
  • Seeks appropriate opportunities to align business practices and overall software look-and-feel between the Friends of CHaD and Friends of NCCC to enhance the user experience. Thoughtfully understands need for individuality vs. symmetry; makes cases to team in both areas as appropriate;
  • Understands use of Luminate data, the Raisers Edge system, and the Development Office. Ensures that importing capabilities are robust and complete and that data are entered into Raisers Edge such that it can be appropriately leveraged by development teams.

End-user Training

  • Develops training materials with Blackbaud for end-users at Dartmouth. Establishes, with team, appropriate ongoing duties for use of Luminate such as new event set-up, content design and implementation;
  • Makes recommendations for staffing of ongoing Luminate support. Identifies tasks and recommends appropriate jobs/people for tasks to be assigned to.
  • Makes recommendations on the appropriate usage of the ongoing Luminate retainer with Blackbaud identifying what work should be done by Dartmouth staff and what should be done by Blackbaud. Manages and tracks monthly hours.
