This position is a 24-month term position. Position Purpose

The mission of Thayer Career Services is to help students and alumni develop strategies for career success. The Career Services Coordinator supports the Director and Associate Director of Career Services, assisting in preparations for career fairs, on-campus recruiting, communications and special events. Serves as the first point of contact for employers and students in the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth’s Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs.

Skills & Knowledge

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work well with students, corporate representatives, and staff.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to adjust to changing priorities and frequent interruptions.
• Strong technical skills, including database management, word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based applications.
• Ability to exercise mature and independent judgment, and takes initiative.
• Professional demeanor/appearance.
• Good understanding of social media trends.
• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
• Willingness and ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Experience

• Three years of administrative experience.
• Experience in event planning and organization.
• Significant experience using relational databases, user-interface custom software, Excel and Word.
• Demonstrated experience and comfortable being in a customer service role.
• Experience in career services or higher education preferred

Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, or the equivalent

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Student Liaison/Customer Service
• Serves as the initial point of contact for students, staff, faculty and employers – responding to questions and providing access and scheduling information for programs and events.
• Schedules student appointments for the Director and Associate Director.
• Performs data entry and record management for student database.
• With the Director and Associate Director, establishes and maintains an exemplary level of professionalism for the Career Services Office and Thayer.
Recruitment Coordination
• Serves as a resource and liaison to employers interested in hiring and mentoring our students.
• Assists in increasing our program visibility in the employment community.
• Communicate with employers via telephone, email letter, on-site visits and on- and off-campus events to encourage their submission of job opportunities.
• Acts as the contact for employers making inquiries and recruiting requests, providing customer-specific services to meet needs of individual employers.
• Assists with the implementation of employer recruiting activities, including information sessions (some evenings required), presentations, and on-site recruiting.
• Enters and approves student registrations, job postings and recruiting events in the online recruiting systems.
Event Coordination
• Serves as a primary point of contact for career related events, requiring in depth knowledge of events policies and procedures. Works with internal and external constituents.
• Coordinates preparations for career fairs and other events.
• Updates career services website as needed.
• Assists in coordination of all details of events including catering, decoration, equipment, parking and printed materials.
• Assists in the creation and production of electronic and print invitations, programs, and other materials related to programs and events.
• Stays current with events planning best practices and appropriate technology to ensure productivity and efficiency.
• Maintains a commitment to the mission, priorities, and objectives of Thayer Career Services.
• Willingness to work occasional evening hours as needed to host events.
