Monday-Friday (8 AM - 5 PM) with flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends to meet demands of the position/program. Are you organized, yet creative? Good with numbers, data, and computers? Able to deal with people from all walks of life? The Prouty and the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center are looking for a Program Manager to help the Friends in its mission to raise money and awareness for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center. The person in this position manages all of the monetary donations that come to the Friends through The Prouty and other events. She/he manages purchasing and analyzes data, is the primary point of contact for the Friends and The Prouty, manages the Prouty interns, and is a key member of the Prouty team which directs and manages The Prouty every year (among other events).

Position Purpose

The mission of the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center (FNCCC) is to raise money and awareness for the Cancer Center.

In collaboration with the Executive Director of the Friends, Program Manager independently plans, develops and coordinates programs, maintains event data, and event components that support this mission.

In addition, the position fosters and nurtures relationships with Board members, donors, business representatives, interns, and volunteers and has significant impact as an ambassador to the communities and stakeholders of the Friends, and of the Cancer Center at large.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Good judgment, discretion, independence, and initiative.
  • Knowledge of database software a plus (Filemaker Pro, Blackbaud).
  • Superior problem-solving and analytic skills.
  • Ability to plan, build and execute complex, fundraising and awareness building events.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and skill in editing and proof-reading.
  • Excellent computing skills including a working knowledge of design and presentation programs
  • High level organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast changing environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principals
  • Outstanding people skills with an ability to maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and groups to meet FNCCC interests and needs.
  • Art or graphics background.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to support events and meetings in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
  • Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
Minimum Experience
  • Five years of relevant experience, preferably in a non-profit or academic setting.
  • Event management experience.
  • Experience with volunteer management.
  • Experience with database management
  • Experience producing or creating graphics a plus.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in experience and education.

Note: This position is located at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Lebanon campus. DHMC has a strict no-smoking on premises policy.

Program Management

  • Manages and coordinates the execution of specified fundraising and community activities that raise both awareness and funds for FNCCC, as assigned.
  • Participates in strategic planning re: the addition, expansion, and/or enhancement of events in order to ensure increasing fundraising success.
  • Manages creative vendors/or is the creator of graphics, publications, and other promotional and publicity materials critical to each event, as needed.
  • Oversees and/or performs designs, construction and maintenance of the fundraising websites for FNCCC events, as assigned.
  • Recruits and manages volunteers for specific events and projects, including the Prouty, as assigned.
  • Leads various subcommittees in order to accomplish larger event and fundraising goals.
  • Working in concert with the Executive Director, facilitates and coordinates the activities of the Friends Lebanon Board, the Friends South Board, the Prouty Executive Committee and numerous subcommittees by recruiting members, creating agendas and evaluating progress related to FNCCC goals, as directed.
  • Determines corporate sponsorship levels and benefits packages as needed. Seeks and coordinates a substantial program of in-kind contributions and corporate sponsorship for Friends events, where necessary.

Communication

  • Serves as ambassador for the Friends and the Cancer Center in frequent interactions with a wide range of internal and external constituents, including donors, volunteers, Board members, Cancer Center and Dartmouth/ DHMC professionals and staff, and a broad variety of contacts in the business community.
  • Collaborates on the development of event publicity, internal and external communication products, and when appropriate creates press releases, ad copy and feature stories, working with appropriate internal and external agencies to accomplish this.
  • Manages and creates social media output, including Facebook, twitter, Pinterest, Linked In, etc.
  • Regularly handles confidential or sensitive information; exercises discretion concerning its disposition.
  • Interprets, applies, and explains office, department and College policies and procedures.

Miscellaneous

  • Supports the functioning of the Friends department in whatever ways are needed.
