This is a 20 hour per week position. Hours are 6:00 am to 10:00 am Monday -Friday. Position Purpose

Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of tasks to support the clinical and administrative programs of the Health Service.
The Unit Technician is responsible for the receiving department, cleaning restricted and clinical areas, and other duties commonly associated with orderlies and ward assistants in a hospital setting.

Minimum Experience
  • 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in health care setting.
Minimum Education
  • High school diploma.

Operations

  • Performs floor care maintenance, including polishing/buffing equipment, being aware of optimal times in the day to cause least disruption for inpatients, outpatients, and their treating providers.
  • On a daily basis, cleans inpatient infirmary rooms and outpatient examining rooms, maintaining a hospital level of cleanliness.
  • Cleans restricted access rooms, adhering strictly to infection control standards and confidentiality policy.
  • Stocks supplies.
  • Removes used linens and red bagged medical waste.
  • Cleans up patient spills.
  • Maintains hospital cleaning supplies.
  • Maintains the staff lounge/kitchen area.
  • On a daily basis, performs the opening/unlocking and closing/locking of offices and patient rooms in assigned areas. Assist with antique inventory and security checks.
  • Shreds confidential patient materials in provider rooms, inpatient unit, medical records, and pharmacy.
  • Performs receiving department functions. Checks in and delivers received goods to Purchasing Assistant and/or departments, as indicated.
