Position Purpose

To create, test, debug, document, and maintain business intelligence (BI) solutions for data analysis and reporting in support of the High Value Healthcare Collaborative (HVHC).

Skills & Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of Java and JavaScript.
  • SAS, R, and / or Python is desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Windows operating system.
  • Working knowledge of website technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of a relational database management systems (e.g. SQL Server).
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to address open-ended problems.
  • Critical attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with exceptional ability to interact and collaborate with staff, researchers, senior faculty, and administrators.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with ability to manage competing and evolving priorities under deadline pressure.
  • Proven, highly motivated self-starter with mature judgment and sound analytical skills.
  • Commitment to diversity and serving the needs of a diverse population.
Minimum Experience
  • One to two years of relevant computer programming, ideally with healthcare data.
  • One to two years experience with Business Intelligence tools.
  • Experience with computer programming using versions of SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (SiSense experience is desirable).
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other analytic discipline.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Technical

  • Uses expertise to analyze, summarize, and report complex healthcare data (e.g., produce web-based dashboard reports).
  • Performs ad hoc data warehouse queries and creates reports for internal and external clients.
  • Develops / writes original computer programs or adapts / modifies existing programs to meet the unique requirements of new systems being developed or problems being addressed.
  • Writes algorithms, implements in appropriate programming language and adequately tests, debugs and documents programs. Prepares supporting documentation.
  • Analyzes programming and software issues relative to system performance, data management, and data analysis requirements.
  • Incorporates verification methods into programs to confirm accuracy of results.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to develop specifications for proposed BI solutions; participates on project teams; advises on the technical feasibility of proposed approaches.
  • Participates in pertinent project meetings.
  • Consults on the choice and implementation of solutions to hardware and software needs, providing input regarding computing requirements.
  • Stays abreast of technological advances in relevant software / hardware for the benefit of HVHC.
  • Assists in the development of infrastructure tools for the benefit of HVHC.
