Position Purpose

Provides leadership, guidance and support for building relationships with alumni communities and identifying leadership, including but not limited to regional alumni clubs, Women of Dartmouth, affiliated groups, and admissions ambassadors. Works with the Deputy Director to develop and implement the communication and regional engagement strategy in support of alumni communities along with special projects that further the mission of the Communities department and the College. As part of the Communities team, creates and executes programs, events, training, and services designed to meet the needs of each of these communities.

Minimum Experience
  • Three plus years relevant experience in program development, training development, and management.
  • Event planning and management experience.

Key Accountabilities

SPECIAL EVENTS PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, SUPPORT, AND COMMUNICATIONS

  • Under the direction of the Deputy Director, develops a regional engagement strategy around special projects which will engage clubs, communities, and groups.
  • Serves as the project manager for regional engagement activities and communities’ events.
  • Serves as the regional engagement liaison for alumni relations with Advancement colleagues.
  • Provides communications to all stakeholders around regional engagement and communities events.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT

  • Cultivates working relationships with leaders of alumni communities.
  • Identifies communities’ leadership needs and works to identify and recruit potential new leaders.
  • Determines the training and support needs of alumni communities through ongoing research and analysis of demographic trends.
  • Designs, implements and markets training and support programs.
  • Develops and promotes affiliated/targeted events that alumni club leaders can include in their programs in collaboration with the other alumni communities.
  • Promotes the involvement of Dartmouth alumni communities in support of other alumni organizations and events.
  • Provides supports to the Women of Dartmouth steering committee and Women of Dartmouth regional leadership.
  • Develops virtual programming opportunities for alumnae.
  • Develops training and support materials for Women of Dartmouth communities to assist with the launch of new communities.
  • Works closely with the institutional colleagues, Dartmouth for Life team and student organizations to increase opportunities for student/alumni interactions. Identifies and recruits alumni who are willing to share their expertise with students.
  • Represents Alumni Relations on issues related to inclusive excellence, specifically with respect to ideas to promote positive and effective interactions between students and alumni.
  • Facilitates the on-boarding and training of new iModules users

EVENT PLANNING

  • Plans special events and marketing strategies to increase alumni awareness of Alumni Relations programs and services that demonstrates the value of lifelong relationship with Dartmouth.
  • Develops content and provides logistical support for volunteer leadership training.
  • Develops and promotes prototypes of events to help increase alumni participation in club/regional events.
  • Identifies alumni to participate as speakers for events and shares recommendations with group leadership.
  • Ensures sufficient staffing resources are available for community activities.
  • Ensures that all information regarding event activity, volunteer roles, and panelist participation is entered into Advance.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Leads the development and production of monthly communication to Communities audience that promotes events, activities, services and tools.
  • Develops and promotes events and programming on alumni communities’ websites.
  • Tracks and analyzes social media activity for Women of Dartmouth and groups. Provides insight and recommendations to groups’ leadership.
  • Provides relevant content for social media sites related to groups and communities.
  • Establishes and cultivates ongoing channels of communication with potential new leaders and volunteers.
  • Encourage collaboration amongst all alumni communities, including club, groups, Women of Dartmouth and admissions ambassadors.
