Position Purpose

To conduct study participant recruitment and assessments for large scale epidemiologic and reproductive health studies and to assist with development and updates of research study materials (study protocols), maintenance of study database, collection of study samples, day to day study management and supervision of work study students.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work well as a team member and to exercise discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency and skill with computer databases and software packages such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Endnote, STATA and SAS.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality of data.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, research methods and protocols.
  • Ability and willingness to work at multiple location as needed.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to Concord, NH and other study sites in the Concord region.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in order to meet patient and study needs including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays and hours other than 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Ability to work as team member to coordinate and ensure necessary coverage.
Minimum Experience
  • One to two years of relevant experience in a medical or research setting or educational equivalent.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health related field or other field related to health: or the equivalent combination of education and Experience.
  • Master’s degree desirable.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Recruitment, Interviewing and Specimen Collection

  • Responsible for recruitment, enrollment and interviewing of study participants.
  • Conducts complex pediatric and maternal assessments.
  • Coordinates recruitment and interview schedule with clinic staff.
  • Maintains high level of participant enrollment through effective recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Provides education and instruction to participants on informed consent, study materials, collection of samples, and follow up processes according to protocols.
  • Obtains participant data and specimens through structured interview and delivery room procedures. Assures participant self-administered surveys and specimen collection activities are completed accurately.
  • Conducts necessary follow up activities as needed and coordinates with laboratory and other study personnel to assure specimens are collected, processed and delivered according to protocol.
  • Processes biologic samples and performs other laboratory procedures required for the study as needed.
  • Enters accurate study data in established database in a timely manner according to protocols.

Data Management

  • Under the direction of the Research Director and/or Regional Manager, assures that data are successfully collected and managed.
  • Assures that subject and data confidentiality is maintained and data integrity is assured.
  • Generates pertinent reports on a monthly or as needed basis.
  • Assists in the organization of laboratory and study related protocols on the server.
  • May assist in the supervision of students or other temporary staff performing data management tasks related to laboratory specimens and other study data.

Project Support

  • Assists with drafting study documents, including protocols, questionnaires and other materials.
  • Solicits review of developed materials by study investigator and research director.
  • Assists with the periodic review and update of protocols and assists in preparation of materials for IRB requests and renewals.
  • Coordinates mailings for study subjects, follows up with staff on missing forms and materials and maintains supply of materials for staff.
  • Conducts interviews, enrolls study participants and collects biological samples from study participants to provide backup staffing as needed.

Miscellaneous

  • Conducts literature reviews under the direction of the Principal Investigator and/or Research Director in support of study related topics.
  • Assists with statistical analyses and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all study materials and databases.
