Position Purpose

This position is for three, 24/7 1-week sessions – July 23 – July 29; July 30 – August 5; and, August 6 – 12, 2017. Mentors are expected to be available for all three sessions and the day before the first session begins. Dormitory accommodations, a meal card, and parking are provided.

This position involves working with high school participants educating them about health career opportunities, college preparation, and important topics in the health care field, mentoring/supervising participants providing logistical and organizational support and organizing and overseeing recreational activities.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to teach.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development.
  • Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
Minimum Experience
  • One year of experience in a mentoring, teaching, or leadership role.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, with preference given to a degree in a health profession.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Mentoring

  • Mentors/supervises HCID participants.
  • Provides logistical and organizational support.
  • Works with HCID participants to educate and inform in the various areas of: career counseling, college preparation, and pre-health professions.
  • Organizes and oversees recreational activities.
  • Identifies future tracking of participants.
