Position Purpose

To plan, manage, and execute one or more complex multiple-component research projects studying healthcare delivery, health policy, and/or clinical practice. Serve as an integral member of the research team to develop and achieve project(s) objectives, develop and facilitate execution of project plans, communicate project status to leadership, work effectively toward problem resolution.

Minimum Experience
  • Five to seven years of experience in research project management and/or health care.
  • Prior experience with research and/or management.
Minimum Education
  • Master’s degree preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

NOTE: This is a research position dependent on the availability of sponsored funding.

Project Planning and Management

  • Organizes, reviews, facilitates and tracks project tasks, project reporting and any relevant fiscal reporting by project; develops and stewards all assigned project activities; and maintains quality of work products across internal and external efforts in accordance with research goals and aims.
  • Develops project management plans, to include definition of project objectives, timelines, resource allocations, identification of key stakeholders, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Problem-solves with partners to ensure integrity of program design, and achievement of deadlines and benchmarks. Resolves issues using own judgment.
  • Leads development of reports for sponsors and contributes to the development of grant proposals.
  • Supervises activities of project assistants, fellows, student interns, administrative assistants, and other partners, develops training and necessary instructional materials, manuals, and toolkits.
  • In collaboration with TDI Administration, monitors resource use and apprises project leadership of variances to budget.

Research Implementation

  • Manages operational processes for the entire life cycle of research activities: developing and implementing protocols, data collection, managing subcontractors, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Supports development of data collection tools, such as surveys and interview guides, and oversees data collection.
  • With project leadership, facilitates and conducts quantitative and qualitative data analyses to complete research deliverables.
  • Develops papers and presentations, conducting necessary literature searches and reviews and developing subject matter expertise that advances completion of project deliverables.
  • Oversees data management activities including data definitions, documentation, data management, and reporting.
  • Monitors data output and collaborates with statistical analysts or statisticians.
  • Manages submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Data Use applications/updates and assures that subject data confidentiality and data integrity is maintained.

Communication

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative interactions with internal and external stakeholders necessary to achieve shared goals, advance the research, and disseminate findings internally and externally.
  • Works cooperatively with internal staff and multiple internal and external research partners.
  • Prepares communications about project findings tailoring the message for target audiences.
  • Organizes meetings (i.e., research meetings, advisory board meetings) and conducts follow-up communications to advance the work and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
